Pokemon and Y requires a subscription based service in order to transfer Pokemon from Gen V

Granted, it's $5 a year (which is freaking cheap, and is going towards keeping the servers alive so that people can basically use this service for EVERY generation from now on), but still, =/

  • I don't really have a reason to use it, but I can see why other folks would.

  • >Must pay five bucks a year for a subscription service

  • "I will grant you two wishes; one for each testicle."

30 day free trial, transfer all of your Gen V Pokemon then.

^^ The part that annoys me is it being needed for transfer. The price is irrelevant except for the fact that it exists. Well, that and transfers depend on their servers up time

I guess somebody could figure out how to create a homebrew app that tricks Poketransporter, however

^ I like to go through my games slowly, and the 30 day trial is only until 2014

  • Actually, the transfer service is completely is free to download in use. All you need is a 3DS, a Gen V game, and a copy of X or Y.

The one with the $5 subscription fee is box service that lets you store up to 3,000 Pokemon and transfer them between X and Y games.

The transfer sends your Pokemon to the Pokemon Bank

So it does require paying to use

Yep. You get a free month until 2014, but otherwise...
