[Magic: the Gathering] People making casual decks for Standard.

a little muffled
Standard is a tournament format. If you're just playing for fun, why would you restrict yourself to only two years worth of cards from a game that's been around for almost eighteen years?

I blame the fact that Wizards decided to call the format "Standard".

  • FNM.

What's the point of taking a clearly non-competitive deck to FNM when you're just going to get your ass kicked by the people with Jaces? Apparently most cities have less cutthroat FNMs than Toronto, but there's always going to be the one or two guys with tier 1 decks.

Same reason why older people butt in on casual junior baseball games. To dickstomp everyone and relive that feeling of superiority over everyone.
  • You have it backwards, the people Nyktos is talking about are those who'll get dickstomped.

    Ah.

Some people get their friends to play shitty decks in tournaments to use them as win ladders, or they just don't have any sense and hope for the "heart of the cards" to guide them through lucksackery.
