It's like at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers where the lady sees her boyfriend, perhaps the last person other than her to not be replaced by a pod person, only for him to turn, and in a climactic moment tells her that Capital will not be ultimately unmasked as exploited labour power; rather, humans are the meat puppet of Capital, their identities and self-understandings are simulations that can and will be ultimately be sloughed off.
