Getting a new 3DS game for the first time in ages and finding out I lost the charger
Monster Hunter Tri and Luigi's Mansion 2 are gonna have to wait, it seems.

If you have a DSi charger lying around, you can use that to charge it, too.
Question about chargers: is it safe to use a charger as long as its output voltage/amperage are the same and the plug style is the same?
^ Yeah, i used mine and left my 3ds charger in the box.
I'm not sure I've ever even used my 3DS charger.
@glennmagusharvey Yeah. Furthermore, the wire's voltage/amperage tolerances can be lower as long as they are strong enough for the charger.
(Also, your mobile devices really should just be using microUSB. > )
I'm actually not thinking about mobile devices; I'm thinking about some battery-operated-but-AC-adapter-optional portable music players at home. Y'know, from the 90s, when such items were a thing.
It's bad enough that they won't use MicroUSB, but Nintendo's insistence on using different chargers for different devices drives me mad. There's no technical reason I shouldn't be able to charge my DS Lite and my brother's 3DS with the same charger. It's solely so they can sell people new accessories.
I mean, Apple also insists on proprietary connectors, but at least they kept theirs the same for the better part of a decade.
Nintendo have used the same charger type for the past 5 years. Also, the voltage changes between systems.
