Wii Emulation is further ahead than Dreamcast emulation

This seems weird to me, although I am certain there is a reason for it that is not obvious to me.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Emulation wasn't really a thing when the Dreamcast was out, was it? And once it hit, there was more demand for Wii emulation than for Dreamcast emulation, because the Wii was a current thing.

  • a little muffled

    Nintendo is more popular?

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

I'm pretty sure it's because the Wii is more popular than Dreamcast.  Also, I think the Wii works somewhat similarly to the GameCube.

  • I want to say it is more the dreamcast GPU being much harder to properly emulate at a decent speed than anything else.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

When the Dreamcast came out, 8-bit and 16-bit emulation was already a pretty significant thing. The jump in computing power at that time made emulating 16-bit consoles pretty trivial.

But you never had any to begin with.

In 1999, Sony bought the creators of a commercial Playstation emulator to court. They didn't actually win, but they did manage to drive them out of business with legal fees.

  • They're somethin' else.

    ... Bleem?
