According to Wikipedia "The phrase is borrowed directly from English but since Hawaiian has a different phonological system - Hawaiian does not have the /r/ or /s/ of English and doesn't have the phonotactic constraints to allow consonants at the end of syllables or consonant clusters - "Merry Christmas" becomes "Mele Kalikimaka""
Is it just me, or does that make the song vaguely offensive?

How does this make it offensive?
It seems like it's making fun of their inability to say Merry Christmas.
Although if Hawaiians do actually say Mel Kalikimaka it would be okay, I guess. I don't know if they do.
No, I mean, what song are we talking about?
Mele Kalikimaka, I assume. Which, incidentally, was written by a Hawaiian.
...I never knew there was a song called this.
