Happy, upbeat pop songs can sometimes be way darker than you would expect them to be. I, for one, hope it's intentional.
On the other side of a street I knew
Stood a girl that looked like you
I guess that's deja vu
But I thought this can't be true
'Cause you moved to west L.A or New York or Santa Fe
Or where ever to get away from me
He must be such a gentleman.
Oh but that one night
Was more than just right
I didn't leave you cause I was all through
Oh I was overwhelmed and frankly scared as hell
Because I really fell for you
Be careful with whom you have one-night stands, girls, they might begin stalking you across the whole country and then write a song about it.
Oh I swear to ya
I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive by
When a girl instinctively thinks that you're going to shoot her when she sees your car, know that you are doing something wrong.
Just a shy guy looking for a two ply
Hefty bag to hold my love
I... think I've had enough.

Train's lyrics are strange.
Unfortunately of late they've been strange in a bad way as opposed to a charmingly nonsensical way.
Similar in concept, I think "Everybody Talks" is secretly about a younger boy who's into cougars.
Yeah but nowadays it's generally slang for older women when used to denote age.
Also there's reference to a love shack.
Which can mean many things, and is also a B-52s reference.
