That odd sense of limbo when you're done drinking...
and then you're too sleepy to keep your head up, but after 2 or 3 hours of feeling fine, you have this last bout of wanting to throw up that never arrives and it keeps you from actually going to sleep.
Its annoying.

This sounds like an instantaneous hangover to me.
Incidentally, my head didn't hurt, but the roof of my mouth felt slimy. That couldn't have been cottonmouth, I hardly ever smoke.
Alternatively, you might have just drunk a crapton and paid for it in bodily discomfort. The ill effects of binge drinking can vary quite a bit, from dancing in the rain to puking blood into a friend's carpet and being permanently banned from the premises. Sounds to me as though you were just under the puking threshold, which is well over the "stupid shit" threshold in any case.
