I wanna play a massively multiplayer Risk-like/strategy game, but none exists

Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Ever since playing GoCrossCampus I've been looking to recapture that feel of large-scale, broad-based team strategy.

Nothing quite like that exists, unfortunately.  GXC had its various design and management faults that contributed to its decline, for better or worse.  Searching for "online multiplayer Risk" just produces results for Risk online (official) and Conquer Club (unofficial), where you play what I call oligo-player Risk, basically.  ("oligo" meaning just a small number of people in multiplayer, as opposed to massively multiplayer.)

I eventually came up with an idea for a political election simulator that involved investing resources in districts to try to control them politically, using a similar style of presentation.  Haven't developed it at all, though.

Anyone know of such a game?  Would be quite fun if we could play it.
