Seems only that one has achievements.  But then again, this one and this one have leaderboards.

This is potentially a stroke of genius. Some people are just completionists, and will do whatever it takes to get all the achievements. With this in mind, the achievements can be used for the purposes of education; if each achievement corresponds to the mastery of a function or set of functions, then completing the achievements could be tantamount to mastering the software.

I'm almost entirely sure that Valve are breeding an army of Uruk-Hai indie game developers, judging by their recent actions. They're providing a wide range of independent games on Steam, giving them away in cheap bundles (thereby distributing them more efficiently), providing game-making software and providing achievements for said software. Looks like an obvious ploy to me; make Steam the online centre for independent games development.

And you know what? By doing so, Valve open a door to independent developers or people who want to become games developers. They're providing tools, incentive and an established community. With this kind of thing and Steam Greenlight, they're trying to put power back into the hands of gamers and game developers rather than those of publishers. This has a side effect; Valve have a sizable amount of gamer trust and dedication, whereas gamers are losing faith in other long-established publishers and developers. They're writing their own paychecks while opening the gates of the gaming industry wider. Very clever.

Sure, this seems kind of dumb on first viewing, but it's entirely sensible if you guess their objectives along the above line of logic.

    Poot dispenser here

To be fair, one would assume that you actually gain proficiency if you decide to go for those achievements and such, as opposed to simple bragging rights.

Hell, leaderboards could be how quickly you render something in Maya or something like that.
