My ability to waste several hours at a time doing completely useless things
Today, I wasted a few hours with a multiplayer text-to-speech sandbox game.

My forum addiction in a nutshell.
Related: Being up late is a vicious cycle.
Being up late makes you more sleepy. Sleepiness decreases one's good judgement, causing it to be easier for one to waste lots of time doing stupid things. This sometimes causes things that actually need to be done to be delayed. ...which in turn causes one to sleep even later since one still has to take care of those things.
Every day I waste hours looking at cars and houses on the internet. Sometimes while at work. Glenn should know all this already.
How much did you goof off while playing, GMH? Did you play with anyone else who did this? If so, I'd bet it was pretty fun.
What do you mean by goofing off while playing? Do you mean goofing off in general, or whether I distracted myself with something else while playing?
I meant doing the thing Moonbase Alpha is known for: abusing the chat system to hell.
I don't actually know much else about the game. How much does it necessitate cooperation with others? Is that just a specific mode, on different servers?
Okay, the basic gameplay of the game is to get out some tools and do some repairs to the life-support system of a small human settlement on the moon. The repairs themselves are simplistic--all you do is to identify the problem and use an appropriate tool for the job--welding torch, wrench, welding robot, or arm robot. Or possibly replacing a component wholesale, if it's completely broken. Welding consists of a little connect-the-dots-without-touching-the-sides minigame in a race against the clock.
The main challenge comes in resource management, especially time. You have 25 minutes to restore oxygen levels/rate to normal, in the default game. So you need to get the right tools and pick the right tasks to accomplish the goal in that time. (Notably you don't necessarily need to fix all the problems to succeed.)
I think that once you play the game a few times, this probably gets kinda boring. Unfortunately, there's not much else to do on the moon. And the welding minigame is always the same pattern, just a different subset of connections. (The U-shaped connection is the most annoying one. Start from the right so you don't have to go upward as much.)
Well, you have these moon buggies that people can drive around. And you can race the worker robots.
Wasn't playing Moonbase Alpha, wasn't playing TF2 (which is what happened the second time last night), and yet, I said I was going to go take a shower, back around 10 PM.
It's now past 3:30 AM and I still haven't showered.
That is basically me in a nutshell, when I am not working or in school I can waste hours doing god knows what on video games, animu or whatever interests me.
