Found out about this from SA, actually. Literally couldn't believe the thread title when I first looked at it.


I don't know much else about what's going on, but Jesus Christ a city is trying to reduce firefighters and cops to minimum wage.

    Well, fucking hell. This isn't a good precedent to set. Hopefully the unions are able to give them hell.

    On Wednesday, the mayor dropped a bombshell by announcing he would unilaterally cut the pay of 398 city workers, including himself, to minimum wage indefinitely due to the city's cash-crunch crisis.



    It's still a shitty thing to do, but that's the most admirable way to do it.

    Whether it's actually a terrible idea, I don't know, but it's clearly being legitimately done because of the city's financial problems and not because he's just a dick.

    The worst thing is that he tried to pass this unilaterally. It would have only made sense to try to get in touch with the other city workers and explain to them his plan.
