Wimpification

  • Loki's appeal for me was initially that he was a character I could empathize with, and whose motives were sympathetic even though his actions were unjustifiable.

So I didn't really care for him in The Avengers, but that's just me.

  • I kind of got the impression that Loki went just a little bit crazy between Thor and The Avengers.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Loki from the Avengers or the Mythological Loki?

Assuming Avengers since that's what everyone else is talking about.

Regardless I thought wimpification was something else, but nevermind.

I don't like it when people do this either, it's rather annoying. Especially when people try to pull a grey character into either black or white (perfect example: every Code Geass discussion ever)

  • I kind of got the impression that Loki went just a little bit crazy between Thor and The Avengers.

Banishment to a weird plane will do that to ya.

  • Not entirely fair. Even people who think Magneto or Doom are in the right, keep basic character flaws and aspects intact.

Magneto has the advantage that he actually is half right even if he works in self-fulfilling prophecies about public fears.  Doom has the advantage that manipulating people is kind of his thing.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

I never really thought why Doom is a good guy. At the end of the day Doom is looking out for Doom and Doom alone. Any side benefits to the world and Latveria are just gravy for him. Magneto ranges from kill on sight to active disinterest to humanity, but at least he genuinely cares about mutants and their rights.

  • You can change. You can.

Well, normally the people who say Doom is a good guy are inspired by that story where Doom conquers the world, makes it a perfect utopia and then gets bored and undoes it because lol status quo.

  • I think some bearing on 'hero Doom' comes from the fact that Doom actually cares for Latveria, making it a very nice place to live, all things considered.

Well, in some portrayals, anyway. In others they're undernourished and poor and desperate.

  • Definitely not gay.

this reminds me of the time when doom revealed that he controlled the entire world through nanobots or some shit and he told magneto to kneel and magneto did

    it was kind of homoerotic
