Power-pop bands repeating lyrics
I like Big Star, and I like Badfinger, but they both had a seriously bad habit of repeating entire verses in their songs, usually after the guitar solo. Where other bands would repeat the bridge or the chorus, these guys repeat their first verse. This had the side effect of making their otherwise excellent and concise songs drag out way too much.
I think there's only one song on Big Star's first album that doesn't do this, and that's "Thirteen". One song out of twelve, it's crazy.
