Different three-digit U.S. interstate highways with the same numbers, close to each other
For example:
I-291 goes from I-91 to a few towns east of Hartford, Connecticut. I-291 also shows up near Springfield, Massachusetts, less than an hour's drive away.
No, they're not the same I-291.

...Huh. From what I can tell, that does seem to follow the standard numbering for three-digit interstates (loop routes start with even numbers and are assigned sequentially within a state).
But when they're that close together, you would think they would fudge it and call one Interstate 491 to avoid confusion. I mean, there are plenty of other examples of Interstate route numbers being fudged...
Loop routes start with even numbers?
I'm fairly certain CT I-291 is a spur (or whatever the term is for something just branching off), not a loop. On the other hand, FL I-595 is a loop.
I never knew there were two that aren't the same! This is what I get for not ever really going to Springfield...
