Dirty Bit

People gave good reviews to this song. WTF?

Wait at least 1 minute into the video before you tell me I'm overreacting.

IJBM: Black Eyed Peas in general. Their songs just aren't that good...

Never seen the video of that song before.  Coulda done without the vomit.

It's not dreadful, though I wouldn't have said it was remarkable.  Lyrics aren't particularly clever.  I like the sung segments better than the rap ones.

I laughed the first time I heard it at around 1:00.
  • Other Black-Eyed Peas songs don't actually hurt to listen to. This one does.
  • Honestly, what were they thinking with those polygonal abominations?

Other than that, the song is forgettable, which is a bit better than taking days to excise from your head.

What is that song?  Is that a BEP song?

    Because I quite dislike it.

What, "I Gotta Feeling"?  Yeah, that's them.

    Oh.

Good to know.  I'll be generally avoiding their music in the future.

...though not like I encounter them much, as I am frequently quite targeted in my uptake of music.

They've got one good song: "Where is the Love?".

"Pump It" is pretty good, but only because it samples pretty much the entirety of the (superior) Dick Dale classic, Misirlou.

Which song did they almost get sued over?

  • The strangest thing was that the Black Eyed Peas actually started off as an alternative form of hip-hop.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I forgot what they called it. Was it "trip-hop" or Dippity or whatever
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
...is that the "LET'S GET IT STARTED IN HERE!" song?
  • Old BEP was amazing.

New BEP makes me want to beat their fans' faces in with half of a cinderblock.
  • The only good parts of that song were taken directly from another song, also by the time whasser-name's voice phased into a repeat I could tell the repeat was going to speed up, reach a higher speed, and then go into the chorus. When the chorus hit, though, it was like being expecting to be hit on the head by a heavy cushion, but it's a glass bottle instead
  • I've tended to keep my expectations for BEP down since I first heard "Shut Up", and it's worked well so far. So I was torn between "hey this is pretty cool" and "MY CHILDHOOD IS BEING REMIXED" at first, and then, well, WHY. why would you do that.

Is this at all like that recent remix of "Work It" by Daft Punk?

I like the original better than the remix of that.
  • You could just not listen to the song, you know.

    Wise words. :P

Kinda hard to do that if you're going through someplace where other people are playing it.
  • Solution: Don't live in a city with people with bad taste.
