Lisbeth Salander Just Bugs Me

It's the whole attitude in which her character is presented. I find nothing to desire, nothing to relate to, nothing to sympathize with. It's one thing to have a troubled past and another to try and relate with said past. Probably might have to do with the fact that I don't have anything relateable to such a past. It also annoys me when someone tells me that "She's just a damaged person and you could never understand!" Well, duh, I don't need to understand a person to sympathize with them. I also believe the author tried to hard to "show" how hard Lisbeth has had it and many elements just came off as unnecessary.

I don't see why you have to relate to a character to read a book. 

The story needs to be good. You can't always just relate to any person, and sometimes asshole protagonists are interesting.

I don't find Lisbeth all that interesting, either. Any character developement she got just seemed too insignificant.

Okay, I can see why that would make it hard to read the book series.
