Generally when I see straight shota, at least the girl is attractive. In lolicon, the guy (or guys) is crazy at best and a creepy old man at worst.
Sadly that's a common double standard with ero-everything--women getting action in those sort of works rarely ever are ugly or have their faces hidden away from the viewer.
That mostly confuses me more than disturbs me (well I guess it disturbs me too but... mostly confuses). If the male in porn is supposed to be a stand-in for the viewer/reader, then wouldn't making them... not deliberately hideous make more sense...?
You keep count?
^^Consider the target audience.
...
uh...that's...not really any better.
>Generally when I see straight shota, at least the girl is attractive
So it's not as bad when the person doing it is pretty?
There's also the idea that sexual abuse is okay when it's female on male, funny when it's the same gender, and crossing the MEH when it's male on female.
This idea of "if it's an older woman, it gets off the hook easier" seems to be rather common, especially if the woman in question is attractive. Take for example the Mary Kay Letourneau case, where at least one public speaker wondered where teachers like her were when they were in school. By contrast, I don't think anyone would say that if the genders were flipped. It's a very odd double standard.
Obviously this kind of thing isn't right, but thinking back to early high school, I probably would have kept my mouth shut if an attractive female teacher used me sexually and been all the gladder for it. Obviously adults shouldn't be fucking those who are underage at all and I don't condone it, but one has to wonder how often this actually goes on and how often the younger party is actually happily complicit.
^ Let's not get into this. I remember how it always went whenever someone brought it up on TV Tropes. (Last I checked, discussion of it was one of the banned topics, along with Israel and abortion.)
@Juan: You're not Ninth Wonders either, but flamey topics are often similar from forum to forum. I just reference TV Tropes because it's had a lot of conversations like this.
Protip: TvTropes. We are not.
Wait, Israel and abortion got banned from TVTF? I didn't know about the latter, but I thought there was a long-running thread about Israel in OTC.
>Obviously this kind of thing isn't right, but thinking back to early high school, I probably would have kept my mouth shut if an attractive female teacher used me sexually and been all the gladder for it.
Yeah, and I would have been happier at five if I got to eat candy and ice cream every day, but that doesn't make it good for a child.
The question of why women (and especially attractive women) get off easier is pretty straightforward to me. Women are generally considered gentler and more innocent within societal expectation and it doesn't just happen in cases like this. There's also the fact that I'm probably not unique in my perspective and a lot of this goes unchallenged because a lot of young teenage boys probably enjoy the state of affairs as much as the teacher. Age of consent laws are in place to prevent a more socially powerful party from dominating a younger, more vulnerable one, and they shouldn't be taken to mean that people around the age of puberty don't have a sense of sexuality. In fact, thinking back, I remember no other time in my life where my sexual urges were so intense.
Then it's just a case of math, especially in schools that only permit students of one gender or another. If there's an attractive teacher and a bunch of students at the stage of discovering sexuality and coming to grips with its intensity, some of the students are going to be nothing but glad to have sex with said attractive teacher. It doesn't make it right or permissible, but it's understandable that it would happen. If the student is happy with what's going on, there's there's pretty much no chance this is going to come to attention and that's where this gets complex. How do you convince a 13 year old boy that willingly bonking his hot 27 year old English teacher is a bad idea? From a masculine perspective, that's nothing but awesome.
^ Not arguing against that, but see this post for what that issue becomes. When both parties are complicit and satisfied with the situation, plus working to keep it a secret, it's unlikely that anything is going to get done about it. This starts as a failure of an authority figure, but it would really help if young teenagers saw the flaws in the situation. So, basically:
^ Against my better judgment: although there's anecdotal evidence, it's inconclusive that there's any difference in sex drive between males and females. It's likely that individual differences count for more than overall tendencies. With that in mind, how did we convince horny teenage girls not to bonk adults?
(Did we convince horny teenage girls not to bonk adults? I was under the impression it wasn't very common.)
I'm not sure we didn't convince them of that, although if there's a difference in statistics, one possible avenue to analysis is looking at how women are socially constructed as the more vulnerable sex and how they're encouraged to engage sexually as compared to men. Males are encouraged to look at the act of sex like a "victory" or a "conquest" which implies that there's an inherent element of convincing a female to engage in intercourse against their better judgement. So the default standard for women is "don't have sex", where the default standard for men is "have as much sex as possible".
Have they done interviews of any of the boys involved in cases like this?
There have definitely been interviews with the kid from the Mary Kay Letourneau case but I can't find one in a five-second Google and I don't have enough time to look harder. He did end up marrying her when she got out of prison though.
>implying porn has anything at all to do with real life
porn is kinda based around something that happens in real life.
It happens to you maybe ;_;
Nice pagetopper
Protip: Abortion and Israel threads tend to get banned on most forums.
Yeah, both tend to bring out the worst in people. Such discussions cannot go for long without somebody from one side of the issue calling out the others on being mysoginists/amoral murderers, or anti-Semites/anti-Islamics.
Granted, the extremists on either sides do tend to be just that.
It's always better to try than to adapt the notion that no-one's going to change viewpoints and nothing new ever comes from the discussion. That way you can banhammer the eejits who disrupt the discussion or shit up the thread with their argumentative tactics: posters who can't stay civil usually adopt that stance on a wide range of topics.
> stance
> wide
Why did I misread this as "wide stance"
