I would have to import those manually to be compatible with the thing I intend to insert the map into, which currently has no convenient method of doing so from my searches.

There's also how the system I have to make it fit into doesn't even allow multiple tilesets, so if you try to do as little as put in a "snow" tile in a "desert" map it isn't going to work out, either by crashing the game, freezing it and causing horrific sounds, or not being able to get inside the game to begin with.

Can you not edit the image the tileset is taken from?

I'd have to program the system to recognize it as a legitimate map tile.

I am referring to a video game rather than the map-making program itself, by the way. The map-making program itself doesn't discriminate on these sorts of things, but the game definitely does.

    Ah, I see...:/

  • No rainbow star
So not RPG Maker XP then?
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

I was about to ask if this is RPG Maker.  That said, I don't have experience with it.

  • Incidentally, RPG Maker VX (second most recent version of RPG Maker, recently succeeded by RPG Maker VX Ace) actually does have similar problems to what Edmania is dealing with, due to only normally supporting a single fixed-size tileset for the entire project.  Though this isn't usually a problem since there are several ways to get around that limitation, and VX Ace lets you switch tilesets on a per-map basis.

But anyway that's totally irrelevant to Edmania.  What game is this?

  • Fire Emblem 8 : The Sacred Stones.

    *super late*

  • IIRC that game didn't have mountains designed to look higher than one unit.  You're using the tileset to do something it very much wasn't designed for.

  • Most of the tilesets are also highly inflexible in general, for whatever reason.

It is significantly easier to do anything when I don't worry about adding mountains, though.
