So I recently sent an email to Nintendo of America's customer support, asking them about their release schedule for the Wii Shop Channel and the Nintendo eShop, and commenting on the lack of information provided about upcoming titles.
This was the response I was given:
"Thanks for writing. I can understand your disappointment with the lower volume of games being added for these services and I am happy to forward your feedback. However, for a variety of reasons, we are rarely able to state with certainty if or when a specific title might appear in the WiiWare or Nintendo eShop lineup. We also do not have a listing of upcoming game titles with which we can provide you. However, new titles are being added weekly, so we ask that you keep an eye on our website."
So... Nintendo's selection process for download releases is inscrutable to even its own employees. As much as I love Nintendo, that's just really awful.
(I made this complaint mainly because of the current status of the upcoming Wiiware remake of La-Mulana.)

By the way, do you know what the fate of the Wii Shop Channel is going to be once Wii U comes out? It would be a shame if it were to be shut down then.
The Wii U and Wii will probably use the same Wii Shop for most intents and purposes, I think. It makes sense, since ir provides continuous service for Wii users without additional cost to the development of the Wii U.
And the Wii Shop Channel's primary use is getting old SNES games anyway, so
Oh good. Hope they do something about that WiiWare file limit though. We lost Super Meat Boy over it. Super Meat Boy!
Not that I know for sure, mind, but Nintendo is usually quite generous to its consumers in comparison to Sony and Microsoft, and endeavours to follow user-friendly, mutually-agreeable patterns. They might leave us out in the cold, but I don't think that's particularly likely.
They still haven't released the Ness games in Europe yet
^^^Considering that the Wii U is significantly more powerful than the Wii, they'd better.
^^There was that one time where Nintendo blocked The Binding Of Issac(another Edmund McMillen game that was on Steam) from release on the 3DS eShop due to its religious content, which didn't please McMillen at all. That seems to be an isolated incident, though.
I honestly can't blame them for BoI. On Steam it's fairly low-key, but on a Nintendo system...that would have stirred some shit up.
Most DSiWare games are available for the 3DS too, so I'm assuming Wiiware and Virtual Console games will also be available on the Wii U.
