I always think it's a mod warning me or a guy saying something inflammatory, even if I no reason to believe so.
Anyone else know what I'm sayin'?
Comments
Not really, since that's never the case for me, as far as I can remember.
Who are you, anyway?
That Human. And yeah, I know that feel. I don't PM people there anymore, so that helps a lot.
Hmm, I don't remember even mentioning who I was on any thread here. But I guess I never tried hiding it either.
I'm always eager to read PMs whenever I get them, as it rarely ever happens.

Doesn't take the world's greatest detective to know that the guy called "Sapiens" also goes by "That Human" in other sites.
And that wasn't even the only clue. Also, I'm only "That Human" on TV Tropes, so far.
Back on topic, PMs I receive tend to not catch me by surprise.
Tis the most glaring one, at least.
I like getting PMs there, it's like you got a letter from someone. So far haven't received many warnings, so I guess that's why I don't associate them with admins.
Yes since I tended to get "thumped" alot
Me too, although that lessened over times, since it's mostly either a "thump notification" (which happens rarely) or someone wants an avatar from (nowadays, that happens only rarely too).
All in all, I nearly never get any PMs.
On the rare occasions when I was getting thumped, I usually knew it when I saw the notification. There were exceptions, but they were unusual.
I used to get PM's a lot, because I talked a lot with other people. These days, it's next to nonexistent.
I used to get them a lot there too, but then I stopped using TV Tropes.
The only PMs I ever got on TVTropes were in response to ones I sent, and there were only a couple of those. To be honest, given the big age gap between me and most users, I wasn't surprised people weren't trying to get friendly. It would have been a bit weird, actually.
I also remember at least one person (Blackmoon, I think) actually saying in his sig that he didn't like PMs. Fair enough.
Getting the PM notification on TVT still kinda freaks me out, because it means somebody wants to talk to me--and pretty much all the people I'm comfortable having private conversations with do so on HH now.
I've gotten a small handful of other PM's, but pretty much my entire inbox is the Justices, Rott, etc. about game nights in Portland since I don't really go to HH and see them anywhere else.
This is the case with me and any site that has PM's (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) I always feel like it's either a warning shot from a mod or someone I know chewing me out.
The sole exception is Tumblr. Which is ironic, considering my contempt for the site and its userbase.
