Lydia

I've never played Skyrim, but I often Skype with my friend while he does. Apparently Lydia's something of a numbskull, from jumping in the way when you try to attack something to continuously getting caught by the same traps to snapping and attacking harmless NPCs.

She's fucking hilarious. I know which companion I'm choosing when I get this game~

"NOW you'll paaaay!"

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

Mjoll the Lioness is better anyway.

I have nothing else to add.

  • No rainbow star
Companions tend to have poor AI anyways, no matter who it is
  • Aela the Huntress is my looove.

Cicero has been doing the best as a tagalong though. Maybe giving him full Daedric armor/sword and enchanting everything he owns has something to do with it, but I love the guy.

Lydia is snarky. I sacrificed her in the Boethiah quest with glee.

Yeah, most of the complaints about Lydia are just about the companion AI in general; she just happens to be the first one most people get (since you get her from an early story quest).

  • But you never had any to begin with.

I always got Sven/Faendal first, due to the whole "quest in the very first town" thing.

It's pretty easy to miss that quest. I don't think I did it until I got the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller.

"you duck spawn, refined creature, you try to be cynical, yokel, but all that comes out of it is that you're a dunce!!!!! you duck plug!"

I really doubted it would happen (at least in the next five years), but it turned out even I have an opportunity to play. I go alone, judging by those quests where you have guys following you around it was a good choice. I play a sneaker type.

  • a little muffled

Yeah, I never really used companions, the game is already easy.

  • I tend to use companions in any game that gives me the option because I get kind of attached to them for some reason. It's like the closest thing to playing to game with someone else when that isn't an option. >.>

    No rainbow star
I use a mod that improves their AI and makes most of them unique in some regard (Aela is supposed to use her werewolf form when low on health, Cicero goes invisible at times then pops out of fucking nowhere to do heavy damage, etc.)
  • a little muffled

I would get that mod in a second if I had the game for PC.
