Why do most fighting game designers use button motions fighting games?

Not sure. I don't mind them personally (I find them to be easy to pull off), but I would like to see some other designers to try something else.

  • They're somethin' else.

They're not that intuitive. If more arcade games gave you button motions upon the players defeat (ala early SNK), it'd be a lot better.

    Diet NEET

À la Soul Calibur: you can just select the moves from a menu in training mode. Then you somehow implement that in multiplayer so you have RPG style vs. beat-'em-up style. Someone has probably executed the idea already, I wager.
