My internet connection is seriously fucked
DNS lookup keeps failing, I keep disconnecting from IRC, and Hulu videos keep restarting. It's really annoying.

Is it just one computer or multiple computers. Has the modem or router been rebooted yet.
Of course the internet screwing up is a pain since most of the information is out on the internet to fix it.

Alright, first step is always to unplug the router for a few seconds and plug it back it and see if that fixes it. The second is the do the same with the modem. The third step in your case is to make sure that all the cables are in good condition. If everything looks good then there is little to do except call your isp and see if there is an issue on their end. What it sounds like from the symptoms is that some part of the chain is starting to fail and is causing you to temporally lose connection.
Also, don't download anything from a place that limits how much you can download; get someone else to grab it for you.
