Howard "Buck" McKeon is a Republican U.S. representative from California. He recently held an auction for a lucky winner to have lunch with him--billed as "the ultimate power lunch"--at a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization. The starting bid was $250.
Only one person made a bid; he bid $300, and won the lunch. That person is a podiatrist named Lee Rogers, who also happens to be the Democratic challenger running against McKeon.
Rogers says he won't be waiting 8 months until after the election for lunch, and suggests that he'd like to have the lunch sometime in April. Incidentally, he can bring up to three guests. He says he'll bring reporters.
