From this thread on the NationStates forum:
Ok, so as some of you know, i have taken a firm IC stance on Religion being a mental illness. IRL, i feel the same way. However, i would like to know if any of you feel the same way.
I find that religion is illogical, unproven, and frankly, a load of ancient bullshit that has never really contributed anything to the world that outweighs the horrible things it has caused for thousands of years, (racism, sexism, burning at the stake, witchhunts, inquisitions, wars, etc.) and is furthermore a society-upgraded psychological illness induced by the ignorance of how the Universe works and the fear of death.
"Society-upgraded psychological illness". Peh. Sounds like another pretentious teenager who is dumber than he thinks he is and has too much time on his hands.
There is a poll, too, asking people if they agree with him. 22% said "yes", 78 went with "no". It's great that the thread consists of 43 pages of people from all sides of the political spectrum calling him out on his bullshit.
Stay classy, anti-theists.

Talk about a low-hanging fruit.
Religions and various other belief systems cannot be proven or disproven. Same goes for normative ideals. You can argue on and on about whether things are wrong or right, should or shouldn't be, etc., but at the end of the day, at the bottom of your arguments, someone's gonna have to draw an arbitrary line postulating something. As long as such postulating (no matter how it's done) is necessary to argue stuff, you can never firmly prove or disprove it, and as such, its basis lies outside of logic and reason anyway.

Problem detected.
Oh golly gee, oh boy.
Are they Spanish?
Uh huh.
You know, stuff like this led me to move away from NS forums. From NS to TVT. Heh heheheh heh heh heh.
Depends on what you consider worse. It was, so to say, horrifically lefty (sorry for sounding like a stereotypical right-wing wacko, I just am not sure how else to put it concisely) but hadn't had weird periodical fashions like fapping to Yudkowsky. Though the 'Tropes have Fetishes in Yack Fest.
As far as I remember, it was NSG where I learned that conservatism is a mental illness. On OTC it appeared in a form more conciliatory, you know, like referring to a Down syndrome kid: "we have to love them too".
Most of the conservatives on NSG got banned for personal attacks, which I suppose is not really surprising since the atmosphere was largely unfriendly to them.
NSG has a couple of literal fascists, from what I've noticed.
But I thought 'Tropes is the worstest thing ever to happen to Internet screw it, I'm not on BTL
\/ ah yes, forgot to mention that I too wasn't there for a long time.
@Milos: I don't remember many/any when I was on there, but that was a long time ago.
Quite recently there was a high-profile thread where a guy proposed a reformed version of National Socialism. I'll try to dig it out.
There. Enjoy.
Hmph. Makes me wonder - wasn't it a part of Marxist doctrine that there's no such thing as nations or ethnicities, just the upper classes brainwashing the lower?
I think so.
Even though I'm a lefty, I don't like Marxism. Too extreme.
Makes interesting points, but gets kinda creepy when it comes to industrial armies.
To be fair, this is kind of true.
