Can Pure Communism survive?

edited 2011-06-25 00:36:31 in Politics
I say Pure communism to mean anarcho-communism in this case. How would it sustain itself? it seems like it would fall apart at the slightest provocation and would need the force of a state to sustain it. I'm just not sure. I've been doing some small research on Anarcho-syndicalism and that seems like it incorperates elements of anarcho-capitalism and anarcho-communism simultaneously thus why it is used as a stepping stone to the latter. The natural state is that of anarcho-capitalism and only through mass social change can anarcho-communism function properly. Wait did I just answer one of my own questions? How anarcho-commnism would form?( I still don't udnerstand how it would function though it's absurdly unstable and seems bound to fall apart. I'm trying to figure it out here but I don't see much of a future for it. Sorry Chomsky.

Can it survive?  Yes, but only if people are willing to cooperate.  This means that you cannot have infighting, cheating, and the like.

To rely purely on social relations to maintain people's good behavior, everyone has to know and trust everyone else.  This means that you can only have up to 10, maybe 20 people, in my estimation.
  • No. Socialism however...

"The natural state is that of anarcho-capitalism"

    (because I needed more variety)

If you're really interested in this question, why not look up the anarchist communes of the Spanish Civil War? Though mostly what I know of them is that they made a socialist out of George Orwell, but his account of them is fairly convincing. (this is the only thing I can think of that won't make this thread Don Zabu's post repeated 50 times)

  • Writer, Artist, Obscure.
The natural state is that of anarcho-capitalism

The answer is it might work, but like any anarchist-esque society it would be too chaotic to sustainable.
  • Nyktos has convince4d me to look in to proper communism. but for ethical reasons I have issues with Socialism. I also think GMH is correct. I honestly think civilizartions are far too large and full. I find that as populations grow corruption and infighting spreads. Communities should as a rule be small and close. There's a quote from Thomas Jefferson that describes my feelings on the matter but it does make an insult to Europe.
