The way the Film Forum overreacts when what looks like a bad adaptation or remake is in the works

It just seems kind of ridiculous to get that worked up about something so trivial.

  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Like the new Wizard of Oz movies?  Come now, I've been looking forward version of film Oz that's closer to the Baum books and isn't a dreamland.
  • Yes, watching something that was good and cherished turn to shit is such a trivial matter.

THERE ARE STARVING CHILDREN IN AFRICA!

    Wait...wrong thread.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
No, Thorn, you can't turn a preexisting work into shit by releasing a bad adaptation of it, all that does is create another bad work.

But you see, innocent minds will be tainted by the existence of such filth!

(Dagnabbit, why couldn't people tell I was being sarcastic?)

This is about what I posted in the Akira thread, isn't it?
  • I don't even read the Akira thread.

It does bother me on some levels.

Like I once told a friend I liked Bedazzled. So he rented it, watched it with his roommies, and then was surprised I wouldn't watch it with him. And he's like, "but I thought you liked this movie!"

And I had to explain that he was watching the Remake.

That kind of shit bothers me.

If they would do more to differentiate the remake from the original (such as using a different title-- like say "The Amityville Terror" instead of "The Amityville Horror") then it wouldn't bother me as much.

And yeah, how crappy adaptations can taint people's views of an otherwise good work.

I liked the American Godzilla movie though.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
... I gotta admit, I actually liked it too.

As did I. Don't know why so many people (especially the Nostalgia Critic) have such a huge hate-boner for Matthew Broderick.
  • It could have been worse.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Yeah, it could have been as bad as the original Godzilla movies.
  • But you see, innocent minds will be tainted by the existence of such filth!

I assume this is about Shakespeare?
