@DonZabu: No, it's just that Myr was so damn close to me getting to quote a meme about fish.
  • Hmm, this one joined the forums about exactly a year ago. Can't remember if Falconfly was around or not, and who was it anyway
  • Basically he was this guy, who, no matter what the conversation was about, would turn the thread into a discussion of his hatred for the Judeo-Christian God.

Who the fuck is Falconfly again and why exactly was he worth mentioning so many times? I have never seen any threads or screencaps of what he said and he sounds very forgettable.

  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    I remember a space-flavoured avatar. That's it, really.
  • "Sorry, no discussion with that id exists."

Though now I'm concerned that you apparently have an entire archive dedicated to these links.

"Sorry, no discussion with that id exists."

-gasp- That asshole! How dare he! Now I understand why everyone hates him! He had no right!

    HE HAD NO RIGHT!

    ^That's a rather unsettling thought.
  • I searched the wiki, but I couldn't find his posts. I did find a link to the post that got him banned, though.

It died with the purging of IJBM.
  • Wait FE and the TVT Administration area ctually resorting to Orwellian Edits? The fuck?
  • Not Orwellian Edits so much as nuking everything they don't like.

Not much of a difference, I guess.
  • That really frightens me I used ot view TV Tropes as a safe haven but it seems to have become a hellhole.
  • You can change. You can.
Not Orwellian Edits so much as nuking everything that causes way too much trouble and uses server space that could be used for way more useful things.

^^ You're only realizing this recently?

In this case the more likely scenario is that the thread just dropped off the bottom of the boards.  Old pages of inactive threads get purged for the sake of storage space after a while.

I mean I'm not familiar with Falconfly's antics, but it seems like he was someone from rather long ago, yes?
  • Seriously TV Tropes has become a Crapsaccharine World

If server space is that big a problem, can't they find somewhere to store / relocate all of that stuff instead of nuking it?

^Nope, it was always one of those.

You're only now aware of deleted threads?

^It probably takes more work which they don't want to bother doing.
  • You can change. You can.
-shrug- Besides, why bother keeping them? It's not like its useful or anything.
  • Because people like me want to know what was so bad about this Falconfly guy and not knowing irks me.

Serious answer: Subjective opinion and all, I know, but it just seems wrong of me to delete things from the site like that, even if they are controversial or "not useful" or whatever.

It's because if it exists then people will make parodies of it and mock TV Tropes with it.

It's also easier to discuss if we have access to it, and we can bring it up over and over an over...

    You can change. You can.
Bob: But they are deleted because they are locked/abandoned threads that are not even going to be unlocked/necro'd because they are forgotten...

And, besides, by that logic, you shouldn't ban people and keep all the stupid crap.

There's no point in doing so, mostly because it's useless and the userbase won't even use it. and if the only argument for it's resurrection/keeping is "We might need to properly mock it in the future in an unrelated subforum" then...well, I must say, it's a rather weak argument
  • "And, besides, by that logic, you shouldn't ban people and keep all the stupid crap."

Not quite. You could keep the threads around as a "here's what not to do" kind of thing.

Well, yeah, if you put it that way, but...

    ...

    Uh...

Lemme get back to you on that...
  • You can change. You can.
Not quite. You could keep the threads around as a "here's what not to do" kind of thing.

Kinda redundant, when we have a rules thread. And TvT's rules are rather light. Respect others, be a dick without people knowing/caring and you'll do fine.

  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
It's not like Falconfly was that interesting. He was pretty much just a boring misotheist, who only gained infamy (and a ban) because he was... very outspoken.
