  Colorado.  Not everyone does the same thing here.  It's just not a taboo.  I wear crocks at home and change into sneakers to go outside, but at work I do wear shoes indoors.

  I've heard some people think we track dog do indoors.  We do check our shoes before we go inside, and most workplaces have very large mats placed next to the door to wipe off.

  I wear house-slippers or socks indoors. Shoes track dust and the less dust there is, the less time I have to waste every weekend sweeping and more time playing Minecraft or Mass Effect. I only wear them to the extent of taking them to my bedroom closet

  I don't usually put on my shoes if I'm just hanging around the house, but if I put them on to go somewhere I'll usually leave them on when I get home.
