There is too much shitty dubstep.

I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
It makes it hard to find some decent stuff, that isn't just the same 'wubs' over a badly mixed track.

  • Listen to Skrillex

  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
I do, however I haven't a major source of what I'd call decent dubstep in a while.
  • You need more than Skrillex?

    Ah well.

On a similar note, can you recommend anything else that has hits as heavy as skrillex does? Kill Everybody is one of my most favouritist songs at the moment, for pure and simple "HOLY FUCK THATS HEAVY" quotient.

Dubstep makes me think of cyberpunk. It also makes me think that, if I had the CD in my hands, I could wipe the grime off of it with my finger.
  • It makes me think of drug-induced paranoia. I wonder if that's the point.

^^ Grime's another genre I want to find more decent stuff in.

Shit, just listened to Skrillex, they're really good, and I'm not that keen on Dubstep

    @Guitarbizzare

I second everything you've said about Kill Everybody, it is amazing.

I can't honestly think of anything that is as heavy :/

The only song I'd recommend is(Mainly as I like how the bass does make me imagine an earthquake):

  • You can't possibly sit and say there's too much shitty dubstep, and then say Skrillex is amazing, it just doesn't work.

"that isn't just the same 'wubs' over a badly mixed track"

    THIS DEFINES SKRILLEX

    Seriously what the hell.
  • Also, there is loads of stuff that hits hard, you need look more isntead of moaning about there being shit stuff, just like every other genre, there's gonna be artists people like and dislike.

However, it's difficult to find heavy stuff that isn't all wubby, because that's the whole damn point of it being heavy.

Try artists like Funtcase, Datsik, Downlink, Dr Philth etc.
If that's not good enough for you, then just stick to Skrillex and go home :(
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    Ooh, touched a nerve?

I would say skrillex's wubs are more varied rather than literally the same one repeated.

I never once mentioned that the only one's I liked were the ones that purely were heavy, I mentioned I like 'Kill Everybody' and that I couldn't think of anything as heavy.

  • There are songs as heavy, if not heavier than that heap of crap, which also have varied wubs.
You just need to sit and listen to stuff without comparing it all to eachother, that's the problem.

    P.s: Skrillex is shit.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
I'm not incredibly focused about the heaviness as I already said, I like the songs I like and for me there are more songs I dislike (that I've discovered) than ones I like.

    P.s Oh noes :D

I am a big fan of dubstep, but there are a hell of a lot of producers that I feel should quit and get a normal day job. A lot of the kids that jumped on the bandwagon when it became a mainstream genre need to give it up.

You just need to listen to what you like and avoid what you don't.

Because you never know what you might see.
I'm by no means into dubstep, but if somebody likes Skrillex's music, shouldn't they listen to him, by that reckoning?
  • At no point did I say they should not listen to Skrillex, I was merely stating my opinion, thank you.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
I have to agree with you on the jump on the bandwagon point.

Er, that sounds a little selfish, if you ask me.
  • How is that selfish? Are you saying because I like a genre I should automatically like every single producer on the scene? No sir, I refuse!
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
You don't have to like them, but saying that they don't deserve to make music at all if it doesn't appeal to you is quite selfish.
  • Judge if you will, but as I said before, it's merely a matter of opinion, it's not like they are going to read this, take offence and quit it, are they? I'm not going to be nicey nice to avoid the big bad internet people judging me. Boohoo. If you think I'm selfish, then I'm selfish, cool story.

No need to get so defensive.  Nobody said you couldn't state your opinion.  I was just following your reasoning.
