No, it's based on an adult antlion, though admittedly those are quite dragonfly-like. But the fact that it starts as Trapinch makes it obvious which one it is.
However, nonetheless it is a Pokémon based on an insect which is not Bug-type. It would be less good as a Bug/Dragon, but it would make far more sense.
Charizard is an awesome pokemon.
After Kingdra, I was hoping there would be more interesting Dragon dual-types. Yanmega would have been great as a Bug/Dragon. If a sea dragon can get the capital D, why not a dragonfly? Then again, it was probably because Seadra would otherwise be another run-of-the-mill Water type, but Bug/Flying is just as run-of-the-mill.
On a side note, for some reason, I always thought of Kingdra as female. Looks more queen than king if you ask me.
