Tailgating when you could easily pass

edited 2012-04-21 06:16:36 in Meatspace

Why do people do this?

It's like, I'll be driving down the freeway at 4 AM, doing 5 mph over the limit, and some asshole in a minivan decides I'm not going fast enough and they have to get right up on me even though both the other lanes are completely clear.

I don't get it. Wouldn't just passing me be advantageous for them, too, so they could go as fast as they want instead of being stuck behind the dork who drives the speed limit?

  • Champion of the Whales

They do it to intimidate over road users

  • This is why I plan on just walking everywhere. Why deal with such madness when I can just use my own two feat?...Granted, this would be a problem when I want to vacation...anywhere, but I'll solve that problem when I get to it.

  • My arms are falling off!

I live in California where it's practically a de facto crime to go less than speed limit + 5 mph.
