This quite leads to me getting into massive arguments because the people I'm talking to have literally no clue WTF I'm trying to say.

This is annoying.

    ...The title is bugging me ;.;
  • I think the massive arguments bit is actually the greater problem here, namely your rhetoric a lot of the time.

Also, I speculate that how much someone understands your topic is inversely proportional to the amount of lines you put in your OP, but then again, maybe it's because one-line OP's allow more freedom in interpreting the topic the way you want.

  • "I think the massive arguments bit is actually the greater problem here, namely your rhetoric a lot of the time"

Sheesh, why does everyone hate my prospenity for hyperbole?

People IRL love my hyperbole. People online hate it. This is confusing.
  • Hint: One of your favourite tactics is claiming that your hyperbole was a joke. The thing is, your "jokes" aren't funny.

    ^ Because sarcasm + internet = bad

Don't be hyperbolic online. Problem solved. The internet and real life are vastly different
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
In text, it's impossible to tell if someone is serious or not.
  • ....I don't use hyperbole as a joke.

I use it when I'm serious. I am a hyperbolic, dramatic person. This is how I normally speak.
  • You can change. You can.
Oh hey, a Chagen thread on Chagen threads.

We haven't been down this road at all...

Anyway, to reiterate what I have said before. Chagen, people IRL? They are not the same people that you talk to online. You're also not talking to them by the same means and way that you're talking to us. We don't hear your tone. We don't see your body language. So your boldening letter and your creaming comes across as what any other youtube commenter would do. Bitching. And people don't like bitching. Complaining is A-OK, though.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
We're also speaking of two different demographics. That is, Chagen's friendship group of about his own age and IJBM. That means one group is about 15-16 and the other is quite a lot more diverse at about 18-whatever.

Basically, Chagen, you're comparing the standards of high schoolers -- and high school is a bit of a lala land -- to those of people who have matured or are in the process of maturing into the real world. Hyperbole and drama are fine in the context of your personal social interactions, perhaps, but the rest of us are in the process of making or upkeeping lives for ourselves. Hyperbole and drama are silly luxuries that we realy don't have time, patience or energy for.

    Has friends besides tanks now
To be honest, the way I see it, your hyperbole is merely an aggravator of other difficulties inherent in communicating with you. It doesn't cause as many massive arguments in itself.
  • You can change. You can.
Basically, what it boils down to is...

    Know your audience.
  • I use it when I'm serious. I am a hyperbolic, dramatic person. This is how I normally speak.

Yeah, well, I suggest making use of the fact that you have plenty of time too cool down and think about what your post comes as before it's sent.

    Also, what ^^ said.

Protip: Using hyperbole is okay if you want to seem funny and not be taken seriously. Using it in a serious context makes you look like you haven't got the slightest idea what you're talking about.
