Bad Roleplayers

  • I've only had one Mary Sue character before, and that was purely for the sake of making fun of Mary Sues.

That, and she didn't start off as a Mary Sue.

That, and she hated herself after she became one and tried to become her regular, boring self again.

That means it doesn't count, right? >_>

    ^ I... Guess?

...Dear lord I just realized that this means I owned two Gary Stu characters

...Admittedly one was from Grade 5 shortly after my brother died (so I wasn't in the right frame of mind) and one I gave up before I was 15 when another role player slapped some sense into me (Not literally. Although an actual slap would have sped up the process)

Ahh.... Gary Stu RP characters. Just a part of any roleplayer's deveolpment
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
In an RP I'm in, we had a terrible RPer like this.

It's an Evangelion RP, basically where different pilots take the place of the canon pilots.  He took the "kids with mental issues" thing way too far.  His (male) character had a female name, was abused and possibly raped by his older sister, abused by his dad, crossdressed, got turned on by violence... creepy shit like that.

The GM almost immediately regretted letting him in, but kind of hoped that he could... steer the problem RPer in a more productive direction.

After being a generally creepy fuck, making cryptic remarks about having a "plan", and throwing tantrums when things didn't go his way, the GM began to fear for the RP, so he started looking for a reason to boot him.

In a PM discussion, the GM voiced his concerns, then asked what his "plan" was for his character.

    His response:
My character will wind up seeing that mom was
just as insane or worse than dad, in that his Eva goes berserk a [CHARACTER] into a Half Human
Hybrid by ripping one of his eyes out of its socket and replacing it
with an eye she specially created. And she does all of this in a sweet,
serene motherly tone. Such as "Dear, this may hurt, but only for a
minute...and you'll feel so much better afterwards."

[CHARACTER] responds rather badly to his wish
for more power being fulfilled in such a way, going Heroic BSOD, using
his ATF to blast his almost murderous father out of the building and
then finally silencing his mother's soul when she tries to force him to
    devour Adam near the end.
Also, his character was not the pilot of Unit-01.

    He got the boot.

What is this? I don't even-

    No rainbow star
Update on the friend: She said not to worry and that she would have made the character human if she knew it was humans only

I'll give her a pass there (although what kind of fucktarded rps would make one default to an elf dragon...), but that backstory for the character still makes me want to... Gah

So, I think I'll beat her senseless if she goes Mary Sue mode in the rp

    Forzare: Oh dear lord hold me please ;.;

^, ^^ That was pretty much my reaction.

Was it at least almost entertainingly bad?
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    Nope.

    It hurt

    It hurt my soul

-hug for forz- Thank you for sharing that with us. We know it must have been painful
  • I think I know who you're talking about Forz and that guy is just...ugh. His characters all tend towards Stu-ness from what I've seen though.

I'm in an RP at the moment that's set in the Negima universe. This one guy made a PERFECTLY NORMAL STUDENT whose only actual flaw was supposed to be that he was too lazy to study for anything better than average grades...and that he peeks into the girls' bathrooms, but that's apparently supposed to be a charming quirk and not exceptionally creepy. Said PERFECTLY NORMAL STUDENT was a bishonen who had NPC students swooning over him pretty much wherever he went (presumably to remind the other players that their characters were supposed to fall in love at first sight), convieniently stumbled across painfully contrived excuses to enter EVERY SINGLE SCENE (even a couple which were supposed to be going on at the same time).

Said FERPECTLY STORMAL NUDENT has a rich aunt in charge of a giant multinational company who has no real reason not to bail him out of any mundane trouble he, or because he's a chivalrous pervert, any of the female characters (read: the rest of the cast) gets in. Oh, and one of his other characters in the RP (who's also pretty bad, but not in the same way) basically revealed that the PERFECTLY NORMAL STUdent is actually a super powerful magical being of some description on par with, or even surpassing the main character of the bloody manga, but with the added benefit of having trained with a sword for absolutely no bloody reason in his spare time. Although if I'm correct that last bit is probably because the GM refused to let him use what, based on my limited understanding of the later volumes, is a clone of the big bad of the series.

Understandably, the GM's just ignoring him. >.>
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    no
  • If I can rationally extrapolate the word "Stu" from your name, title or description, I'm legally obligated to stab you.
  • ^^ My thoughts exactly. Well, sorta...same general idea, but more concise, less profanity.

^ ...Stupid ACT not giving me the stupid obligation to stab stupid Stus.
