Science Fiction

Despite the name, there isn't really much "science" in a lot of science fiction, and whatever science there is tends to be window dressing. Especially glaring is televised stuff that calls itself science fiction, which tends to be more like fantasy stories with science words thrown around, but even the stories with more respect for science are usually more focused on philosophy. Why are we stuck with that label when space fantasy describes the former and speculative fiction describes the latter more accurately? Then again, I suppose there is some distinction between science fiction and dystopian literature.

    Why is Gore called Horror?

Why are Thrillers still called Suspense movies?

    Gorror works.

And why is it called "splitting hairs" when "dividing hairs" describes the act more effectively? Honestly.
  • Because realistic graphics are expensive.  Also, hard science tends to be relatively dull if there aren't aliens to blast.
