Another video game idea

Because I'm bored and have been talking with Cygan. Here's the basic story: The Eidolons created summoners to act as their prophets and serve as a link between the realms of gods and men. But as time wore on, the summoners became power-hungry, and they enslaved the Eidolons to do their bidding, using this power to control the masses. Some time later, a summoner is born into one of the families of summoners that rules over the world. He is very sheltered, however, and with only his Eidolons to keep him company, he befriends them and grows close to them, while growing distant from the human world. One day, when the summoner has grown into a young man, his Eidolons inform him that the high order of Gods that cannot be summoned plan to destroy the earth and begin anew if the summoners do not cease with their ruthless tyranny. Thus the young summoner sets out to bring an end to their rule over the world. Gameplay: A strategy game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics. Some concepts include the ability system, which involves finding abilities as items throughout the world, and then equipping them to your Eidolons, who, instead of leveling, earn Ability Points through battle. Each ability has an AP cost, and your Eidolon must have enough Ability Points to equip it. The Eidolons will be your units to fight in battle, but the summoner can assist in some ways too. You could equip him with certain items to give bonuses to your entire squad, or use Links, powerful techniques that can be used when a gauge fills. Another concept is that when two Eidolons are adjacent to an enemy, they can team up and do a combination attack on that enemy that combines their elemental powers. Finally, there will be a unique status system in the game. For example, if an opponent is struck by a Water-elemental attack, they will have the Water status inflicted on them for the next couple of turns. While it does nothing on its own, it means at if an opponent is hit by an Ice attack, for example, they're more likely to freeze, or that a Fire attack will be less effective. Obviously this is all rough, but I just want to see if anyone's interested. And sure, this doesn't bug me, but eh, here it is anyways.

Comments

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
The Links are basically Limit Breaks, yes?
  • Yeah.

...Thanks for at least attempting to keep this topic alive, Cygan.
  • Everyone these days have a video game idea! I do, Cygs does, Chagen does, you, I think Glenn does...

Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
I do. It's a shooter where the graphics are "made of food" and all the music and sound effects are done beat-box. I call the game, Lunch Box Shooter.
  • Well, I actually have far too many video game ideas, but only a couple are really even possible right now, and this one is probably the best put of them.
