It hurts just to watch some people quote certain papers (such as the Torygraph or DailyFaily/Heil) for their views on society, or who just use anecdotes with no research at all or any knowledge of statistics.

    It isn't any shitstorms, its just how 'wrong' some of the stuff quoted or used is.

    It's akin to going into a geology debate and insisting that certain metamorphic rocks are actually igneous (or similar).

    I can point to a thread as I'm not going to do digging back through to find a single post:
    Some of the stuff in the GOP defaulting thread relating to economics was untrue, also though it was pointed out by other posters in that thread.

    Are we talking Captain America? Or more realistic like the soldiers from Metal Gear Solid 4? There's a big difference.

    Because, clearly, possessing a neural link that connects each soldier mentally is more realistic than a dude who has reached the peak of human's capabilities via steroids.

    Given that MGS is a series with outright supernatural abilities, I don't think it was ever going for realism.

    No one's saying that it was, though implications about Kojima's mental stability could be made with the leaps of logic made in the game. We're just saying calling MGS 'realistic' is really really dumb.

    People need to learn that 'realistic' doesn't mean 'dark, needlessly complex, and filled with people talking about human nature for a long time.'

    I try to keep from revealing just how ignorant I am in certain fields.  Doesn't always work...  (like, economics)
