Post-thread anxiety.

I just made a thread on FSTDT, and now I'm really sweating about what my replies will be. Usually, when I post a thread on a forum, I tend to avoid it until about 3-5 posts have been made, for some reason.

The thread was about antitheism (it was a small piece where I stated why I don't like it, and asked for others to refute my points so that a debate could happen), so I'm also worried that things might go bad....

  • Knowing your level of argument, they probably will. Sorry!

It should be fine as long as it wasn't too inflammatory. Then again, considering it's FSTDT, one of the biggest circlejerks on the Internet, anything could set off a flame war, really.

  • I get this too, even from relatively harmless threads.

Though to be honest, seeing some of the things you've said about antitheism and knowing the kind of people who make up FSTDT, you might wanna prepare for a flame war.
  • If they will rage at one man's opinion (especially since I explicitly stated that they were my opinions), then they're not really worth it.

This was the thread in particular. I haven't read any replies if they exist.

  • That OP...

... You've been participating in a lot of discussions about Religion and Antitheism here, have you really learned nothing from them?
  • So, is it wrong that I find your comments and responses to said comments in the fundies thread far more interesting?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Perhaps next time you may not want to call them assholes.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Seems fairly civil so far, surprisingly.
  • They call me Rate Miser, whatever I see... turns overrated in my eyes...
Chagen, perhaps from now on don't rely on the "They're opinions! You can't challenge an opinion!" excuse.
  • Considering that if that were true, hating anti-theism would be both useless and hypocritical.
  • It's certainly possible to have shitty reasons for holding an opinion.
  • They call me Rate Miser, whatever I see... turns overrated in my eyes...
^ You got that right. You certainly got that right. Another shitty reason for holding an opinion is to have no reason at all.
  • "Antitheism is discrimination, and no less vile than racism or sexism.

Antitheism advocates the destruction of all religion--a
Cultural Genocide of religion. Never mind that there are many religious
people around the world who do no wrong. No, to the antitheist, they
must be shown the "error" of their ways. They must be eliminated. They
    are wrong. Antitheism is right.

    There is no difference between
the white man who dreams of destroying all non-whites, and the
antitheist who dreams of genociding the culture of billions around the
    world."

     yes i'm hitler >:3
  • I wasn't comparing Antitheism to Hitler, more any kind of racist in general.

Also, nice way to dodge the argument.
  • OK, I really wouldn't want this thread to become yet another antitheism discussion (despite not contributing much to that goal), so I'm not going to try and refute all of your post and spark a debate. All I'm going to do is quote a sentence you yourself wrote.

They never realize that these guys are the minority in the religion, and that most of it's members are perfectly normal, well adjusted people.

I think you should do well in heeding your own words.
  • Because you never know what you might see.
THEY CAN SEE US.  OH GOD.

    Ahem.

@Chagen: Simple piece of advice - if you wish to debate with people rationally, do not disregard their posts as automatically false.  Read them and give them your consideration.

I say this because your description of antitheists there is the same strawman I've seen you describe elsewhere, and it does nothing for your credibility.

    Wait, they're lurking?

    That's creepy.

(No, I don't apologize for what I said earlier, you guys. kthnx)

    ...

    Um, hello, lurkers.

....Wait, how the hell did they learn about this site?

And I never said anyone else's opinion was false.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^Someone on that thread recognized you and linked them.

Who? And why would they do that?

I feel like I fucked up royally now. I hope they don't intend on trolling or anything like that.

Let's hope we just either get some lurkers, or some new contributing members.

And I haven't even read the thread at all still. Hell, I haven't even gone on FSTDT at all today. Is it mostly people raging at me or is it slightly civil?
  • ...Didn't we already just get some lurkers?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^Well, one guy called you a troll, and the guy who linked them here said you weren't.

    ^Wait, did we?
  • Well, they're watching us, or something. Isn't that what a lurker is?

^^^^ It's mostly civil. And people calling you stupid, which is par the course for the site.

Still, you could've put your argument more politely.
