I Do Not Know Why I Hate Lucky Star.

Really.

I was busy hating lucky star on the Minecraft forum, until I asked myself "Why, why do you hate Lucky Star?"

And I was ready to answer myself with MUCH VIGOR, but I didn't have an answer for myself....

...it confused me. I started thinking really hard.

and now....I am starting to think all of the things I hate, are because of everyone else hating them and then I just kind of adopt the reasons they dislike them.

  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
  • You can change. You can.
...so, if I liked something and I gave you reasons to like it...you would like it?
  • I dislike it because the characters are more of fetishes and an eclectic assortment of "cute" things than actual characters. Is that why?

Yeah but I never watched the show so I have no idea if that's true.
  • XD. OK then.
  • Do me a favor, Vorpy:

Take the following address and paste it into your address bar (after correcting the space in it):

Then, close your eyes, press enter, and listen to it without looking.

Eh, it's a show about nothing in particular.
  • Writer, Artist, Obscure.
I dislike i  for similar reasons AHR does.

And because Moe Dantes likes it and that's good enough reason for me.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    I like Lucky Star.

I don't particularly care for the show either way. It's just not all that interesting to me.

What the hell am I listening to?

    Sono Hanabira?

^^ Seen it, very typical, moving on.

^ I love doing that to people who've never seen the show before. ^_^

I like Lucky Star.  It's not as good as Azumanga Daioh or K-On! or Ichigo Mashimaro or some other similar shows but it's still good.  Still, if you don't like excessively moe characters and humor that's derived largely from said excessively moe characters (or from anime/game/manga references) then you won't like it.

Oh man, what a riot. Now, what were you saying?

Nah, it's true.  Then again, it could possibly just be that last time I watched Lucky Star, it was with the DVD subtitles.  And of course, Bandai's subtitles seem to suck.

I think it's better than K-On!. Not as good as Azumanga though.

IJBM: There's no special edition version of the 6th Lucky Star DVD.  BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH STUPID LUCKY STAR T-SHIRTS!
  • ^^
  • a little muffled
@DYRE: IIRC there actually was one, but it got recalled or something?

I'm pretty sure it's just that they realized they weren't making enough money with them, so they didn't bother making one for the sixth DVD.  I mean, it's not like it matters.  All it means is that I have one less CD and T-shirt than I otherwise would, and slightly more money.  And one of my Lucky Star DVDs has a different style of cover art.  Which doesn't matter since all the DVDs are always in the box anyway.

If I wanted to watch slice-of-life I would watch Genshiken.

That said, I don't have that much against the series.

    >implying you should only ever watch one show of a given genre.

That said, I really should get around to watching Genshiken... eventually.
  • Why do you intend to watch it?

    For references? Otaku bashing? Lolis?
  • -wonders who/what Edmania is referring to-

If you mean me watching Genshiken though, it's just because it's apparently good and I like comedy/slice-of-life anime.

    Tableflipper
As for how good it is, well, uh, first season is rather uninteresting for the most part.

The comedy is mainly just a bunch of otaku getting into awkward situations or saying weird things, like "I don't own a single piece of live action porn." said by the most enthusiatic of the lot.
  • Ah.  In any case, I think I'll probably still watch it eventually.  But I have so many other things I'm planning to watch first that I wouldn't be getting around to it for a while anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I like other slice-of-life series. I just couldn't remember any others and Genshiken is my favorite. I'm getting really into Silver Spoon, actually.

I want to read Saint Young Men sometime. That looks hilarious.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I watched episode 1 of Lucky Star.

    Then I watched Random Star.

    I prefer Random Star.
