    My cell phone had some sort of fckup and now it pretends I have the headset plugged in. Currently in the process of figuring out if I can fix it on my own.

    Update: I probably could with the spare part I got hold of, but I can't get inside. I'm wondering if I even have the means to. Let's just say screwdriver set ain't enough.

    Update #2: turned out it was some sort of, I dunno, the port itself was fine but some other thingy on the chip was not. Anyways, I had it fixed but lost message history. Good enough I could recover the address book or whadjamacallit.

    Lesson 1: backup copies are more complicated than copypasting the drive's contents.

    Lesson 2: waterproof phones can be freakish hard to pry open.

    Apparently all of YouTube's employees are monolingual, or otherwise no one realized why un-disableable robotic-voice auto-dubbing may not be a great idea. At least one can change the audio track on the mobile app I guess (speaking of walled gardens).

    Not gonna lie, when I hear machine voice out of a supposedly English video, I go back and look for another one.

    Did some cookie cleanup stuff and now everything about my browser feels awkward, in a way that's hard to pin down in full. Kind of like, everything is mostly in place but reacts a bit different to what I expect, and also it logged me out of most of stuff I've been logged on to, but not out of all, which at least would've made it easy to understand what had happened. All in all, it's not a big deal (certainly not as big as if it deleted all browser history), but definitely an annoyance.

    I really wish Windows weren't so inconsistent when it comes to which desktop to use when opening a new window, you'd think "I manually opened this while in in desktop A so it should open in desktop A" would be sound logic but (unless there's a technical reason I'm missing) someone at Microsoft disagreed.

    Honestly alternate desktops is a function I never felt like using. And now, what you mention makes it sound too annoying to try out. I figure it can be useful, but so far I just kept to one.

    Also, I won't exactly say I envisioned you running a custom overclocked Linux-powered rig, but liked the idea of you as someone secretly running a custom overclocked Linux-powered rig. Perhaps I'll keep assuming it's secret.

    It's helpful while using work-from-home tracking software to keep separate what's personal and what's work-related.

    I'm the kind of person who'd underclock my stuff instead, I was going to do so for my graphics card once but stopped for a reason I forgot.

    c'mon. Your rig should have a big-ass throttle regulating processor speed. Just imagine that. You invite somebody over and they're like, wow, your computer is so slow, and you go joke's on you, buddy, now watch this, and cram the lever all way in.
