  #tropers used to be a bunch of people who were mostly separate from the forums and who thought the forum was a gigantic hugbox full of idiotically idealistic...idiots.
  
  Then #yackfest got founded, by a former #tropers person even, and then the two groups started interacting.  Now there's much less of that, and #tropers has actually died down.  It was extremely active in early 2009, but while it has a lot of idlers, as of a few months ago it had fewer active chatters than #yackfest, for some reason.
  
  There's also the fact that #yackfest is starting to become its own subcommunity, with people who primarily chat there.
