IJBM: "IJBM: [phrase]"

I dunno about y'all, but I'm sorta tired of seeing threads complaining about the use of some phrase and then having the same discussion about how it's acceptable in some situations and not others.

It usually seems that there's at least one conceivable case where it's acceptable, and when there is, the complaint just looks like "It's annoying when people do things in an annoying way."

  • I can't help but find this hilarious... in a non-stupid way...

the complaint just looks like "It's annoying when people do things in an annoying way."

Um, maybe the complainers were trying to get people to agree, thus choose an obvious but subjective statement?
  • What?
  • Annoying isn't an objective trait, but people would have to agree with "annoying things are annoying", at least. I'm not sure what my point was either...
  • "Um, maybe the complainers were trying to get people to agree, thus choose an obvious but subjective statement?"

Sounds about right. People have a tendency to word their argument in a way to minimize opportunity to disagree with them. Though it is much more fun when there is disagreement, especially since you end up seeing things in a way you didn't initially think of.

  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
    Heh, "IJBM meta" indeed.
  • They're somethin' else.
    Yeah, i dunno.
