I think we have a good size list, because we...

are going to watch all these movies and probably more!

The way it will work is, we will watch a movie by the first director, then watch one by the next, in a cycle.

Now would be the time where we order the list by whatever you want it to be ordered, or we can just make it completely random which director's movie we watch next.

Anyway, so far, we've got three OPs. I need to know for certain who is gonna come on saturday, as this is the first day, I want to make it work properly.

Rules of the channel: * Free Discussion is allowed, but if we're watching a movie, try to keep it on topic.

*  No personal attacks or drama

* The channel may have been started at IJBM, and we may draw our user pool mostly from here, but we are not affiliated with IJBM. By which we mean, if you're banned here, you still are allowed in there, and a bunch of other stuff. It bears mentioning that the staff in here won't have IJBM mods for now, mostly because I feel that it might be a problem early on.

* Importing or exporting drama or personal problems with a user is a no-no

* Civility above all. It's OK to dislike people, just don't be uncivil about it. Me and my banhammer decide what's uncivil, by the way (Not really, of couse, but I couldn't wait to do that joke)

* No spam of any kind

Schedule:

A big problem with logistics right now is, well, when will everyone watch the movies? After all, all of us have busy lifes and we can't make it on time.

My ideas are simple: Either we watch on a specific date, or all of us watch on our own and then discuss it on a specific date. I think we can switch between those depending on time and circumnstances.

Staff (So far, I'm thinking of adding another two users)

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I have a bunch. For now I'll say Sam Raimi.
  • $80+ per session
    Yeah, let's start with one.
  • edited 2011-09-18 20:04:41
Tim Burton directed my current favourite movie (Ed Wood), so I guess that qualifies unless I decide to put more thought into the question.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    Christopher Nolan and David Fincher.
  • You can change. You can.
    Can I do a list?
  • $80+ per session
Sure, but try not to make it TOO big.

This does have a purpose, if you were wondering.
  • Uhm.

    Uhm.

    Miyazaki.
  • You can change. You can.
Guh, too hard too hard. >_>

If you don't feel like using all of them, just pick the one nobody mentioned:

    David Lynch
    Nolan
Woody Allen (Until Manhattan, and with certain exceptions like Stardust Memories)
    Coen Brothers
    Sergio Leone
    Clint Eastwood
    David Fincher
George Lucas (I don't care if he's a shit writer, he still did American Graffiti and that wonderful scene in the Godfather, and he gets all my love as a director for it)
Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (Best Pythons)
    Quentin Tarantino
    Martin Scorsese
    Steven Spielberg

And that'd be about it. also, Euros Lyn gets an honorable mention as Doctor Who's director during Rusty's run. Regardless of the many writing flaws, the show's presentation barely managed to fail.

(Sorry about quantity, but that's kinda why I hate these questions. I often feel that if you really know about a subject, picking a favorite is something you just can't do.)
  • $80+ per session
    So many x-x
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
    Christopher Nolan and David Fincher.
  • You can change. You can.
    Oh, and Aronofsky. >.>
  • $80+ per session
    So manyyyyyyy @_@

Okay, I'll check about tomorrow, and see if we get anymore.
  • You can change. You can.
I dunno, Wicked reminds me of Black Swan.

because we all know Wicked is a ballet dancing lesbian, right?
  • I'LL STAY MAI HAUNDS...WITH YAU BLAHT
I like Edgar Wright. Woody Allen is great, but inconsistent.

    $80+ per session
The list thus far. Juan had the decency to basically compile part of it already <_<

    Steven Spielberg
    Aronofsky
    David Lynch
    Nolan
Woody Allen (Until Manhattan, and with certain exceptions like Stardust Memories)
    Coen Brothers
    Sergio Leone
    Clint Eastwood
    David Fincher
    George
Lucas (I don't care if he's a shit writer, he still did American
Graffiti and that wonderful scene in the Godfather, and he gets all my

Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (Best Pythons)
    Quentin Tarantino
    Martin Scorsese
    Miyazaki
    John Lasseter
    Edgar Wright

I added one of my favorites that wasn't already there.
  • Takashi Miike hasn't been mentioned yet. I love David Cronenberg, and I like Zach Snyder even though many people don't.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
because we all know Wicked is a ballet dancing lesbian, right?

    You can change. You can.
    Oooh, forgot about Pixar.

Again, I'd prolly end up being here all day if I decided to throughly answer this question and list every director whose style manages to make me go :D <3

^I HONESTLY THOUGHT WE ALL KNEW!
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
Pixar is a film studio, not a director, buttmunch
  • You can change. You can.
    you lie

I meant John Lasseter, Ed Unkrich, Brad Bird, et al.

    Updated.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
My mention didn't make the list. ;_:

Oh, also since he hasn't been mentioned yet, John Carpenter.
  • You can change. You can.
Bluh, I was gonna mention him but then I realized that I really need to rewatch his movies as I don't remember them that well.
  • $80+ per session
Well, it's funny that you meantion that.

I think we have a good size list, because I...

am going to watch all the movies of all these directors. It shall be a liveblog, type of thing, but more of a quick summary of the movie, and my thought on it, then we can talk about the movie.

The way it will work is, we will watch a movie by the first director, then watch one by the next, in a cycle.

Now would be the time where we order the list by whatever you want it to be ordered, or we can just make it completely random which director's movie we watch next.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    First is Miike.

I recommend Audition, just don't eat anything while doing so.
  • You can change. You can.
Well, first, you should make a "required watching of each director" list.

Also, because the thing needs some international flavor: Ciro Guerra (Colombian. Lol), Francois Truffaut (French)
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    Oh, John Woo also.

    And Ingmar Bergman.
  • $80+ per session
    Updated and added a few.

So, now we will decide what order they should be in, or if it should be random, and the "required watching"/""recommended watching"
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Required watching for Fincher is Fight Club or Se7en.

    $80+ per session
I'd like to have at least 4-5 movies for each director, unless they haven't made that many.
