I am Chinese.

And I have issues with Japan.

This is not helped by the fact that my dad is a massive Japan hater and raised me with stories about their war crimes, stealing their culture from China and turning it into an abomination, killing whales, and making fun of things like eating puffer fish even when they know that it carries a high risk of death even with trained cooks.

This is not helped by the fact that Japan's attempts to apologize for its war crimes against China were either not accepted or never happened. I also heard that it denies that the Nanking Massacre ever happened.

The glorification of Japanese culture, particularly anime and manga, is going too far in my opinon. Especially when combined with my friends in the anime club casually throwing out comments that amount to "China is lame and Japanese are the master race."

I admit that I watch some anime and the art style isn't so bad. But it was treated as something unholy when I requested not having lunch at a sushi bar because I don't like sushi, and I almost punched someone in the face today because they said China stole their entire culture from Japan because that's not true at all.

Today, I sat down with a friend and tried to explain this to him. He said, "You're just jealous." Once again, I almost punched him.

Or maybe it's just my luck I run into too many weeaboos.

TL;DR: I am sick of weeaboos that think China sucks and blatantly ignore Japan's problems.

TL;DR v.2: YES, I MAD.

  • Snow, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
  • You'd be in good company with me, at any rate. I see nothing but Japan's problems.

Ah, racist weeboos, I not too fond of them either.  *Is Filipino*

You might find this a bit depression, N. East Asians tend to racist towards each other.

When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
At least you're not Korean, or else you would be a racist.

Also, apologies for that WWII stuff would gladly help.

  • But China doesn't suck, It rocks, too bad it's seriously underplayed.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I think anime and manga is cool.

I think chinese martial arts and wuxia movies are cool.

It really kind of just stops there for me.

My god your friends are weabooish to a level I didn't think existed outside strawmen.

That said, I like anime and manga, and some other things about Japanese culture. But I'm quick to point out that Japan has some SERIOUS issues.

    @ Snowfox

Did you try to explain to them that what they said is offensive and maybe racist?
  • Or just plain stupid?

I tend to like certain styles of animesque art but I feel no inclination toward Japanese culture, either historical or current/pop.

I have had some issues with some people looking at my liking east Asian pop music (in which Japan is pretty prominently represented) and videogames (which were, like it or not, dominated by Japanese countries for years) and animé (which...is still pretty much exclusively Japanese in origin) and thinking that I'm a weeaboo.  Well, they haven't yet heard my noting that if Germans can get over the Nazis and if Cambodians can teach their schoolchildren that Pol Pot was bad, then the Japanese certainly ought to admit that they did really nasty shit in Nanking and elsewhere in the Sino-Japanese war.

Also, pronouncing Japanese words (written in Romanji) with Spanish pronunciation is fun and great for trolling weeaboos.

    ^^ Hey that works too.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I like anime, but I barely even differentiate it from my liking of other, American/British/whatever film/television/whatever.

Also, I havent watched it in a while because Buffy.

This.  And I legitimately have a famous U.S. show I really, really like: Law & Order and its subseries.
  • Pretty much every east asia country EVER stole shit and said they made it first.

    Fixed.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Ed fixed mah fix before I fixed the fix.
  • South Korea totally invented the ahoge(babomo?) though.

    TO ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE

DOES YOUR AHOGE HAVE A FACE IN IT

    I DIDN'T THINK SO

    YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Is he wearing a Snoopy shirt?

    With horizontal stripes?

    Lame.
  • I have no idea why he's wearing that in that picture to be honest.
  • Wow, South Korea invented exaggerated cowlicks. Awesome.
  • Every country has fucked up shit and depressing corruption. Except for maybe some places in Europe that no one cares about.

The trick is to not let that get in the way of appreciating the parts of the population and culture that aren't to blame for horrible atrocities.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
I'm amazed by how many chinese people there are in this forum. Which brings me to my next point, it's strange how few japanese people are in the English-speaking part of the Internet. I've only seen a few in Youtube (and most of them are Nico reupload channels) some guys in 4chan and Krautchan and a guy who helps for japanese memes research in KYM
  • a little muffled
    Yeah, I've noticed that too.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    Liechtenstein! :D
  • I think part of that might be because Japan seems to have a pretty vibrant internet culture.

I think a large part of it is that not many can write in English when compared to the Koreans or the Chinese.
  • Only Japanese guy I know online is Meophist. :/

The Japanese are an odd little bunch that like to keep to themselves. Interestingly, I don't know any chinese.

Well, let me clarify, I personally know a few japanese people very well, and casually know a lot of koreans. No chinese though.

I get where you're coming from, and I suspect it's much like my irrational dislike of Tesla, though. So long as it doesn't interfere with your day to day activities.

Now, do you not like sushi, or do you see eating sushi as some sort of way as letting the enemy win?
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
I've seen several Japanese people online.  Some of them don't get along other Asians.  Other than that, a lot of them seem to be fans of American animation, like Transformers, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ben 10, etc.
