Yeah, those had to be in, what, their 20's-30's to be granting that kind of experience, probably higher?

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

The problem is, at low levels, large numbers of mons are easily able to overwhelm Pokemon. I mean, consider just a party of six Level 6 Bidoof, yeah? The same amount of Pokemon as you have, at lower levels. Three Bidoof surround Littoria. Let's say they have 6 Attack each, and 27 HP- as if they had regular base stats, and had added one point to each of these two stats. They each use Tackle on Littoria. That is, a potential 6d6 damage + 18, minus a potential 5 or 6 from each attack, so potentially -15 or -18/

That is, they could deal anywhere from 6 to 39 damage to Littorio, enough to knock Littorio right out and nearly kill him. And there's not a very good chance Littorio could knock any of them out in one hit.

Level 18 for the 'rino, 20 for the Loudred.

    Oh, and stat spread:

    Snow
    HP - 7
    Atk - 3
    Def - 5
    SpA - 8
    SpD - 6
    Speed - 10

    Dynamo:
    HP - 7
    Atk - 12
    Def - 5
    SpA - 8
    SpD - 4
    Speed - 10

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

How many moves can a Pokemon learn?

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I've ruled 4. As I can't actually find a rule in the game that says any different.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I'm fine with that, it's just weird that the sheets all have space for 6-12.

...The Pokemon character sheets leave room for 7 naturally learned moves and 7 moves learned through TM/HM/Tutor though

I know. I can't figure out why, unless they're meant to have space for it- but I can't find anything in the ruleset about that.

I think they are meant to have space for it

Maybe have it based on the Pokemon's intelligence? Every level they have in it means they can learn that many moves/that many moves * 2? (Because honestly, that would make some sense. The smarter the Pokemon, the more moves it can remember)

EDIT: For example, this would mean that Dynamo could only know 2 attacks. Upon evolving he could know 4. And an Alakazam could know 7 (the exact number of slots there are for attacks. And I'm PRETTY sure Alakazam has max intelligence)

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    I should do that :v

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Well, for the moment, I'm going to bed. The PDF's updated (bear in mind, the one you have linked in the OP is still the level 5 PDF, not the one I posted later). Only four moves, I'll re-add the others if you do that.

    Later.

  • No rainbow star

Alright, so then I'll get to choosing which attack Dynamo forgets

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Night, INUH

  • No rainbow star

Huh. Both Snow and Dynamo had to forget a move (if we're going with the each level in intelligence = 1 attack). I chose Leer for both

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I hope we're not going with 1 move per int. In that case, Littorio only gets 3.

Actually going to bed now probably.

  • No rainbow star

^ It seems to match perfectly. From what I can tell by looking at Alakazam, the highest intelligence is 7

There are exactly 7 slots in level up and 7 in tm/hm/tutor

So from what I can see, that implies a move per intelligence point

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Except that it leaves a lot of Pokemon with very few moves, which is frustrating for people with those Pokemon.

  • No rainbow star

Well, it's your choice Cygan, since you are the DM

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I think a flat 4 moves is still best.

    Hmm.

Right now, I have college applications to complete and send in, so I'm not going to respond in-depth to anything that's happened while I was away, but I have a couple things to say. Just letting you know before things go too far without me.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

    Here are Phillip's current stats

    Lvl. 7

    Hit Points: 6

    Attack: 2

    Defense : 5

    Special Attack: 6

    Special Defense: 8

    Speed: 8

Anyway, here's what I was going to say:

    ----

-It seems kinda weird that the EXP is split between a trainer's pokemon, as opposed to just given to each (and that the EXP isn't split between all participating pokemon like in the games, for that matter).
-Holy crap. That's almost three times as much XP as anyone but Brandon had previously. It makes sense that encoutners would be against multiple pokemon, but for the sake of not going through all the levels too fast, I think they should be lower-level pokemon most of the time. The pokemon games make it take a while to level up, too, but this seems like a move too far in the opposite direction.
-I also think a flat 4 moves is best.
-I don't think this would be the case, but I just ought to check: Brandon isn't being counted as one of Jackie's pokemon for the purposes of EXP division/at all, is he? I figure he's more an ally to the team than anything.
-Can it be assumed that Jackie took out her Pokedex, too? Whenever I can't show up, I want to make sure I'm not left behind there; Jackie's curious, too (although perhaps not in the middle of battle; I don't know what action that might constitute, and I'd rather issue commands than analyze something that will hopefully be knocked out anyway).
-I think I've already provided my schedule, but I can do so again if you want, Cygs.

    ----

Also, here are Mercer's stats before leveling up.

    HP: 4

    ATK: 2

    DEF: 3

    SATK: 10

    SDEF: 5

    SPD: 14

    Current HP: 11/19 19/19.

  • Has friends besides tanks now

    @INUH: "And 7 to 13 is six."

How much EXP did Littorio have prior to the encounter? Mercer had 495, and I don't recall missing any of the fights the party has had. 495 + 1240 = 1735, which would put us at level 12 by five points (or at least, it would put Mercer and some others there).

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Fuck.

No more math after 1 AM for me.

And now I have to redo his movelist T_T

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Updated Littorio's sheet.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Everest: My math was off when I originally calculated how much exp you'd gain relative to how much you needed :V

That was a mistake, and it won't happen again.

That said, I have a birthday party to be at in an hour.
  • Has friends besides tanks now

Okay. Have fun at the party.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    I'm sure I won't, since it's for a twelve-year-old, but it's my little bro's party, so I can't miss it.

    Has friends besides tanks now

So, I've converted Mercer to level 12. His new stats:

    HP: 5 (27)
    ATK: 2
    DEF: 4
    SATK: 10
    SDEF: 6
    SPD: 16

Also, Curse isn't actually detailed anywhere in the Player's Handbook. Which is funny, because it's mentioned a bunch of times. But anyway, his moves are Hypnosis, Lick, Spite, and Mean Look now (unless Cygan wants to come up with what Curse does/have me come up with it based on what other moves do, which I guess wouldn't be too hard; in that case, I'll replace Lick. Support role man at your service).
