Our current interface is uninviting right now. It's too, er, vanilla. We don't even have a homepage, or anything to signal what we are about for that matter.
As for liveblogs, the main problem with TvTropes's system is that it's woefully undersupported. There is no view count or "I'm following" feature, meaning that only comments signal that you're actually reading the thing. And from personal experience, even if you're following it avidly, it is difficult to continuously make comments with more depth than "Alright! Good job!". Also, I remember liveblogs being more popular when they were just something that popped up on the forums every now and then before they got segregated into their own subforum. Something to keep in mind if we go ahead with such a system here, though the fact we aren't media-specific doesn't really encourage liveblogs. Then again, the most popular TvTropes liveblogs are stuff like "Edit Banned" and "Dumb GameFAQs reviews" anyways.
And on the topic of independence from TvTropes, one of the reasons I decided to leave the forum was because I no longer wished to be associated with the "troper" label. It became too much of a stereotype that I didn't like, yet the wiki constantly reinforces the notion of "troper" identity. Luckily, that kind of connotation has far less power here.
There wouldn't be any liveblog-specific features, but since we're using a prebuilt forum I don't know how viable that would be, period.
those too much to tear them apart for our enjoyment.
I'd like to say that seeing them getting torn apart isn't so much fun, but considering that the ones, I read the most, do exactly.
God, I feel dirty. I need to stop reading the Icycalm and the Bad Reviews LPs.
Although, it's not necessary to dislike something to mock it's dumbness. I enjoyed Aika R-16, of which I liveblogged the first episode, but that doesn't mean that I didn't notice how stupid it is.
I don't think K-On is bad
Since I can't imagine that you could ever like a Moe show, I'm sure this will change when you liveblog it.
To come back to the original topic some more, personally, I'd be against more independence. At least it would be very likely that I leave IJBM if it becomes completely separated from TV Tropes. I know, that contradicts what I said earlier, that I don't care about the independence thing, but whatever...
IJBM isn't understaffed and has mods who don't delete threads without explanation. IJBM doesn't treat complaining and criticism as something that should be purged. IJBM isn't filled with trolls and assholes who only stay unbanned because they're just subtle enough to escape the mods' eyes.
I think what would be best would be a section made for liveblogs, where you can follow them, get notifications when the liveblog is updated, make comments, that kind of thing. Uploading video would be nice too, for obvious reasons.

Same. What made Cardcaptors a good liveblog subject for me was that it allowed ample opportunity for both gushing and mockery.
^Honestly, I think that's more reason to get a proper homepage. If we are going to have more stuff to do, we need to organize it better.
I like the community as it is.
And things like a homepage would be very good too.
An argument for liveblogs is that this is a catharsis site, and those would be a good outlet for such.
Which brings up another point. Do we really have a direct, coherent overall purpose? It is crucial that we can define what we are about if we want to attract others.
I don't know about you, but I rarely if ever read liveblogs of things I haven't myself experienced.
So count me out of the potential audience pool.
I'm not too keen on us becoming a liveblogging-centered site for that matter. How many of y'all want us to become a site whose main focus is liveblogging?
As I said before, I'm fine with y'all making liveblog threads. You even get a commenting system along with it. Why not?
Everyone, go to this thread and say whether you agree that there should be a liveblogging section, no liveblogging section, or if you don't care.
