Offering other services would help. THings like an active liveblog community, or maybe things to add on to the site OTHER than a fora might be cool.

Seriously, a section where we can post videos and written liveblogs, and comment on them would be cool shit.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Considering that its unlikely a nontroper will even discover this place, is making it culturally distinct from TvTropes even that big of an issue?

Considering that SA knows about this place.  It might more likely think you think.
  • Does this mean I am the cancer that is killing this place?

Since IJBM1 was the cancer that was killing the TV Tropes forums, that'd mean you're chemo.

    Alternatively, you're double cancer, sorry.

Except there's very little incentive to do the liveblog here rather than, say, in TV tropes.

Considering that SA knows about this place.  It might more likely think you think.
As a TV Tropes offshoot, they barely even like TVT as it is, let alone this place.
  • You can change. You can.
Why would you do it in TvT? Seriously, I don't think anyone reads liveblogs there except for AHR's and a couple of particularly infamous ones like JBridge's FATAL one and even then,m most of the cool ones are locked.

No, No, forget TV Tropes. This is for us. The liveblogs done here would be for us as an audience.

    ^I agree.

When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
^^^ We could fix that by making liveblogs more accessible here than over there. I would be willing to copypasta mine over here.

I was just thinking of making a thread here for a liveblog series.
  • "As a TV Tropes offshoot, they barely even like TVT as it is, let alone this place."

I don't know, I see people using trope names and mentioning our pages on various things in a non-negative manner on the LP forum sometimes, so clearly they don't all dislike us.

Some well-known LPers also like Tv Tropes.
  • You can change. You can.
-shrug- I was planning on liveblogging KOn here anyway.
  • $80+ per session
Yeah I was planning on liveblogging the Disgaea series, or at least 1 and 2, where you guys would pick which classes I use, their names, stuff like that.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
It would be better if we had a liveblog section.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I've said it before, if you want to do liveblogs here, fine with me.

    That's what I'm saying.

I don't want to do the LP until we've got a liveblog section, at the risk of losing comments, viewers, chapters, etc.

^But we want an actual section for it.

    8.

Just add an off-topic/non-IJBMing section, making IJBM completely standalone. Problem solved.

Does this mean I am the cancer that is killing this place?

I'd like to say yes and include all the other banned people, but I guess that would be an underoverstatement.

You raise a good point though:

Considering that its unlikely a nontroper will even discover this place,
is making it culturally distinct from TvTropes even that big of an
    issue?

IJBM is the replacement of the old IJBM section of the TV Tropes forum. At least, that's what it originally was. And frankly, that's everything it is to me.

Why would you do it in TvT? Seriously, I don't think anyone reads
liveblogs there except for AHR's and a couple of particularly infamous
ones like JBridge's FATAL one and even then,m most of the cool ones are
    locked.

And I think that you think wrong. It may not be the most popular section, but I'm sure that there are enough people who read it.

Also, I think you liveblogging K-On is one of the worst ideas, I ever heard.

Also, I think you liveblogging K-On is one of the worst ideas, I ever heard.

    Love you too.

And Abyss_Worm and many people before have complained before that their liveblogs are not given enough attention, so pardon me if I don't agree with you.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
Why would his liveblogging K-On! be a bad idea?
  • Why would you do it in TvT? Seriously, I don't think anyone reads liveblogs there except for AHR's and a couple of particularly infamous ones like JBridge's FATAL one and even then,m most of the cool ones are locked.

As Nyarly said, plenty of liveblogs get a reasonably sized audience. And that's with a TV Tropes size userbase, around here, they'd get an even smaller audience.

But they would still be viewed by us. I don't go on tv tropes much at all anymore, and I can say, for myself, that the fact that the liveblog is on tv tropes has lessened my interesting in it. This isn't for everyone, but I'm sure there are other people who feel this way.

@Juan: Tell me one thing. Why K-On? Of all the things you could have picked, why K-On?
  • You can change. You can.
    Why not?

LP's of things you think are bad are some of the best ones.
  • But they would still be viewed by us.

And who are "us"? Why are these "us" important to the new users you want to bring?
  • LPs of good things can be pretty good, but generally you're enjoying those too much to tear them apart for our enjoyment.
  • $80+ per session
Us, as in It Just Bugs Me. If we had something like a liveblog section, that promotes something other than random debates and threads, we would bring in plenty of new people (if it grew and grew). Plus, it would be nice to have a thing like that just to have.

The reason I am saying liveblog section is because that seems to be something we are all generally interesting in, and I would love having one.
  • You can change. You can.
I don't think K-On is bad or good. I'm just interested in it because it's probably one of the best-known standards of what a Moe show is. -shrug-

And I'm bored and I like liveblogging stuff. Mostly to myself because I'm too much of a shy shit to post it most of the times.
  • edited 2011-07-01 15:20:49
@Vivi: Are you deliberately missing the point? What I'm saying is that, if these people would want to make liveblogs, they'd probably prefer to make them in TV Tropes, since this site barely offers anything that one doesn't.
  • $80+ per session
Tv tropes is not a site for liveblogging.

Let's just say that we, as a site, decided to advertise as a liveblogging community, with a great forum for things that bug you! We would get chosen by a new person over tv tropes.

And, just so you are clear, getting new people is not even the main reason I want the liveblogging section.
