    PS:  Apollo Z. Hack is the greatest guy on the site,  I can list more reviewers on the site I like but Hack's the one who I wholeheartedly support due to similar tastes in what films we like.

    I gotta admit I don't really know any of them besides the Critic and the Chick, and honestly I got bored of both of them very quickly.

    This is pretty much my thoughts on TGWTG in a nutshell. I'm also a bit baffled by its fandom presence on TvTropes.

    So I'm kind of shocked that this thread was started by someone disliking TGWTG, it does make me happy that BS isn't the only site out there trying to encourage these guys that they need to improve their quality if they wanna try and make a living off of it.

    I don't know, which one was he? Mocking FFX is great in my book, provided the reviewer doesn't try to turn it into a spontaneous so-random-XD LARP-thing like the other videos I've seen.

    I don't really like TGWTG that much.  I was amused by them earlier, but now, they just bore me.  Why they have such a huge fandom baffles me.

    The only TGWTG thing I've seen is spoony's phantasmagoria let's play, and I found it pretty fun, considering it was something like 6 hours long.

    While I can see where some of the reviews on these sites are amusing, I do agree it's annoying to see people who take those rants as the Final Word on the work in question.

    This is the same kind of mentality that leads people to value pithy statements from comedians about climate change over global scientific consensus.

    I don't see a problem with enjoying these kinds of things for the humor value, I just feel that there should be some serious questioning of the reviewer's qualifications before putting them on the same level as professional reviews.

    ^I think Linkara's cursed a few times, I could be wrong though.  And Nostalgia Chick is the biggest threat to women's rights since Sarah Palin, also the Dark Nella saga is so bad that people on the site even make fun of it.

    Eh, Linkara's stance on cursing, while refreshing, doesn't touch on the fact that the guy still does some lame reviews with plot arcs and whatnot. I think that when I click on a video that says "review", I should get a review, not some amateur filmmaker's attempt at humor.

    (It sounds a bit harsh, yes, but I do like some Linkara reviews. Like his JLA: Act of God one)

    As for the Chick, eh, she just seems like an attempt to pander at a demographic. Although her recent analysis on media and tropes could be interesting, they just lack...well, the humor that the place supposedly provides.

    ^^^For starters she idolizes Sarah Palin and wishes to run for president (which is only relevant in this argument due to her idolizing sarah palin, I feel Hillary Clinton, overlooking the whole video game fiasco she was involved in, would not have been a bad president), as well as feeling it necessary to make a documentary about her abortion.  She just comes off as having the same attitude that Palin has about everything, and that's not a good thing.

    ^And then you got people like me who think that they try too hard to be funny, forgetting the review, and they're still not funny anyways.

    But the problem is that the Chick just isn't funny. She has never made me laugh. Whn she attempts comedy, she goes for refuge in audacity...which is pretty much what all TGWTGers do. Nthing wrong with that, except that weverybody on the site does it. And even if she doesn't go for that, then she starts going for absurdist humor. Even more absurdist than the critic.

    And I don't see how they are related. Trying and failing to be funny is not the opposite of to trying to be funny. Trying and suceeding in being funny is.

    As for the documentary...I don't see how it is Antifeminist.

    ^^I've heard things about her that make the documentary have a poor message.
    ^Also a lot of her jokes reference her abortion, which really aren't funny after a while and make her look like a hypocrite because people get shit for making fun of her abortion when she does it all the time.

    This is something I say whenever I introduce people to the critic: He is not funny. He tries, but he's only ok. However, the stuff he reviews is SO bad, that it makes up for it. Then I show them the Titanic review.
