    This might be harsh given that the thread's already kind of a pile-on, but Chagen, in the nicest possible way, thought you ought to know that refusing to even listen to or make the effort to understand or seriously consider opposing arguments is not generally considered to be good debating tactics, and really doesn't encourage people to debate with you.

    Keeping existing characters consistent is the minimum benchmark of a writer, because half the job is already done for you.  Writing a good OC is the second.

    I guess this is one of the reasons I enjoy the Pokemon fandom so much, because there's such a huge pool of stuff to draw from, but its very structure is so ridiculously open to new blood that running into new characters on a regular basis is not only accepted but to a certain degree expected.
